Building another 12.5 upper. Wanted to run a SA adjustable gas block since I’ll be running it suppressed and unsuppressed once my can gets out of jail.

However, I’ve been seeing IG posts, stories, and videos from some people to not use AGB on something you’d potentially be trusting your life with.

Depending how it turns out, this will be my primary upper that I run for taking classes, the range, and HD/SHTF.

    Thoughts?

    Specs:
    – Aero Threaded M4E1 upper
    – 12.5 Carbine Length Gas System SOLGW Barrel
    – VLTOR A5 system

Some AGBs should not be trusted. The SA is one you can count on assuming proper installation.

With the A5 system and that particular barrel though it may be redundant and unnecessary to run an AGB. In this case I’d suggest going with a standard gas block and adjusting at the buffer to tune your cyclic rate.

Just my opinion, but I prefer swapping buffer weights and/or springs over the AGB.

There’s always the option of setting it to where it just reliably cycles whatever ammo you line when dirty-ish and unsuppressed. Also, Black River Tactical makes gas tubes with fixed metering orifices.

    What can did you buy?
