My FIL served in the Navy during this time, only ever talked about it in detail one time, while we were on a drinking cruise on the Mississippi. He mentioned smaller boats and river missions, never thought it might have been like this. I think because we were on a smallish boat on a big brown river he felt close to that time and comfortable to talk about it, it just came out. He has never talked about it since and from what I have heard, I was the only one he has ever mentioned it to. Obviously some shit went down, pics like this make me believe that.
