GuestNovember 5, 2021 at 5:14 pmI’ve done tests with rifle loads on magnum primers with pressure and velocity and not noticed much. I think one load netted around 15fps faster. I would start out at the book minimum. But I would also use a chrono to check your speed. In my experience I don’t see a lot of pressure signs in my pistol loads. I think checking with a chrono is pretty vital. I have some fast loads that are above book that don’t show obvious pressure signs. I don’t think the magnum primer will make much of a difference, but I would start low.

GuestNovember 5, 2021 at 5:14 pmI was always told to take the load down 10% and work up from there. In practice I have not noticed much difference over regular SPP with 45. Maybe down a tenth a grain if that. I have loaded thousands with large magnum as that has been easier to get over the last 2years
