Any thoughts on a budget bow for beginners to bow hunting?
-
I’m very new to bow hunting but I have some experience with bows, but I’m looking for a nice budget compound bow and what I need to get with it. Any suggestions?

GuestMay 17, 2021 at 4:39 amI would look at used bows at gun stores/pawn shops/Facebook marketplace etc. I bought a new bear rant for 350. A few weeks later I saw the same model at a pawn shop for 199.

GuestMay 17, 2021 at 4:39 amMy budget and your budget may be 2 separate ideas but I would start by looking at offer up, facebook market place, pawn shops for a good quality used bow then a new low end new bow I think you will be happier and it will more than likely come rigged out which can be expensive and if you like archery hunting and your gona stick with you can always upgrade if you want later. I haven’t shot a rifle in 5 yrs been only slinging arrows and hunt alot my matthews work great 12 yrs old and I kill the crap out of stuff and bow now can be bought for around $350 rigged out so find something you like .

Easy enough to adjust the draw weight, and if you have a Bear partner like Cabela’s nearby they’ll usually adjust it for free.
Don’t believe the whole “5-70 lbs draw weight”, though. It’s more like 10/15-70lbs. While you could probably adjust it lower, I would never touch something weighted so low; dry fire it once and you’d be screwed, thing would just come apart.

Try to find a good used bow. unfortunately unless it’s driving distance and the guy is nice and has it set up he prob won’t let you shoot is being novice but my first bow was a used hoyt hyperforce which I still have and it was such a great base. I’ve since upgraded to a hoyt ventum33 and that will be my bow for the next 5 years likely. If you want to try to negotiate something I might be able to sell it to you with some parts to help you get started. I have a hoyt carbon stablizer for it and [this Hoyt Ultra Rest](https://www.lancasterarchery.com/qad-hoyt-ultra-rest-black.html). Has new ABB platinum bowstrings that only have about 500 arrows through it.
