I live in CA. From my research of the laws behind guns including the roster, and extensive search for available in stock, ive come to the conclusion that the gun laws in California suck.

Does anyone have any insight as to where i can possibly go to find a decent pistol to protect my family with? Lately, a lot of BS has been entering my life and I have this feeling I really dont want to manifest. Sidenote: ive always been fascinated with guns. Never shot one, never felt like i needed to use one, just right now feels different and strangely, unprepared.

Any and all suggestions please! Thanks!

1- stop voting for these anti gun politicians, or advocate for others to stop.

2- get some training, preferably live fire at a range where you can try different pistols

3- inventory is low and prices are high

4- good luck and be safe

At your stage of the game; just go to a gun store and start looking around and asking the sales persons some questions. Are you 21? No drugs or felonies nor mental illness? Have you a good Calf ID card or Driver’s License with the correct address and a hard utility bill which says your name on it ( spelled correctly); and the same address as your Calf ID Card or Driver’s License? Have you taken the online course and passed the test? ( don’t know what it is called)? You have to do those steps first.

Don’t worry about the “Roster” or the LEO Exception; go to the counter and see what they have on display. With NO experience you are starting at the way wrong time… look at a pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle. Buy that and start to go to the Range and take some classes.

After 6 months and 500-1,000 rounds down range; then you can think about a bigger pistol, like a 9mm or .40, or a .45. But I would advise against jumping into that level with you at the “Never shot one, never felt like I needed to use one, just right now feels different and strangely, unprepared.”

You need to learn first and foremost. Having/ owning a firearm is not at all like the movies nor video games.

Good Luck! Keep reading all over Redd and watch some U-tubies… search for Active Self Protection (ASP) guy. He is good at what he explains!
