Can I use my future SBR as a pistol while waiting for approval?

Basically what the title says, I think my next build I want to be an SBR, but it’ll be my first time building one so in the meantime while I wait for my approval is it legal for me to slap a pistol brace on it and use it as a pistol until my approval comes in? Thanks.

Yes, but the lower needs to have never been a rifle…even though no one would really know.

it’s actually recommended, that way you can test the fitment of your lower in “short barrel” configuration before you go registering and engraving it

i’ve heard stories of people sbr’ing lowers and a year later when they go put it together their meme lower isn’t to spec
