Recently i’ve been using a decent amount of hotdogs while fishing for catfish. I mix Kool-Aid with a red food dye and garlic powder and have been catching a decent amout. Unfortunately i’ve also been losing a lot of bait in the process. Is there a good way to rig hog dogs?

I also use hotdogs soaked in strawberry jello mix. I haven’t had problems losing bait but I fish with noodles so it is easy for a nice size cat to take it and run. Just have to go find where they drug the noodle.

Try Danny King’s or CJ’s catfish bait. They are stink baits. You use a #8 trebble hook, amke sure to use either neddle nose pliers or a stick. You don’t want on your hands or xlothes.

Go to the drug store and get tube gauze
    Gauze that goes over finger
Cut a piece of tube gauze ,tie knot in one end slid hot dog or chicken liver inside tube tie off and put on hook

I use hotdogs on a circle hook and they stay on really well

Not really a good way to rig them, they’re just too soft. You might try using garlic salt instead of powder. The salt should toughen them up a bit. I used to do strawberry banana jello powder and garlic salt for chicken liver, then freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw. That got it a little tougher but I’m not sure if it works the same for hotdogs.
