About to pull the trigger on a new semi-auto for this season. I’ve been hunting with my trusty 870 for years, but it’s time to step up. Here’s my short list: Winchester SX4, Franchi Affinity 3, Stoeger 3000 and Beretta A300 Ultima.

Based on reviews here and other places, this is what I’ve read.
Winchester SX4: get the cerakote because the non-cerakote will be rust. Otherwise, no issues.
Franchi Affinity 3: I haven’t read anything bad.
Stoeger 3000: might as well get the Franchi
Beretta A300: customer service seems to be a problem right now, but that could always change.

Unfortunately the only gun I’ve been able to handle so far is the Franchi. It’s light! I loved the way it felt and I could get it in walnut hardware which I prefer but isn’t a dealbreaker. I’m going this weekend to see if I can handle the SX4 and A300.

Any feedback on this short list?

Of those, I have only shot the SX4 and it was only about 20 shots at clays. I can say, it was the single most naturally pointing shotgun I’ve used, but I’ve also only used budget tier shotguns. So that’s not really helpful either.

I think you have a great list and I think you’ll be happy with any. I know people who have used the franchi and they have no complaints about it. It’s a great gun that uses the benelli inertia system and would be my choice of those options!

Any preference on gas or inertia?

Out of all those for hunting

Franchi affinity 3 would be my pick

Choose based on gun fit, preference of gas vs recoil operation, customer service, value.

NB1: Beretta Holdings is the parent company of several of the brands you listed plus Benelli:

NB2: Cole Gun Works is an authorized warranty repair facility for Beretta shotguns. They offer excellent service and advice.
