I just picked up a Ruger 10/22, I already have a CGS Hydra AL 22LR suppressor that does a phenomenal job on my bolt 22LR, but holy port pop, not hearing safe on the 10/22.

I then tried my CGS Mod 9, figuring it might reduce the back pressure. That helped a lot. Way more fun to shoot, much better at the ear, not perfect, but way better.

So I’m wondering what dedicated can I should get for my 10/22. I really don’t want to run a full size 9mm can, even with how light that Mod 9 is. Plus, the Mod 9 FS is not going to be dedicated to this gun, just no. It has other things to do.

My first thought was a Mod 9 SK because I already know how well the FS does – this would be smaller, lighter, and would probably still suppress just fine, maybe? I don’t know. That unknown is killing me with the decision making process.

Then I thought of Rugged’s new 22 can, the Mustang 22, and use the short configuration. The only bit I don’t like about that, is I’m basically saying I’m going to buy a whole suppressor, and only use half of it. I also don’t actually know that the port pop would be reduced enough in the short configuration. I would hate to buy that, and then find out, oops, the 9mm can was still better.

Finally I come to the Rex Silentium MG22, then I could just add baffles until I balance out suppression and port pop. I would still have the issue of buying a whole suppressor and not using part of it, but some how that feels less wasteful with a segmented can, because that’s the intent, full customization.

I’m leaning towards the MG22 option, but I don’t know if there are some other low back pressure 22 cans that any of you may have found work well on a Ruger 10/22?

Dead Air Mask on my 10/22 with subs is the shit…to my ears, the action is louder than the shot.

Hmm I’ll have to try my Hydra AL on 10/22. But with my Dead Air Mask, all I hear is the bolt cycling. Using CCI standard velocity.

If your wanting a true dedicated can Ruger makes an integral set up (silent SR) where the barrel and can are all one piece. I believe that is generally the cleanest and best performing option. YHM, Gemtech, Thompson Machine and a few others also make integrals.

If your going dedicated 10/22 can why not go Integral? Shorter OAL, super quiet and its just awesome. I love mine

The Rex sounds like a good fit in this case so you can tune it to your host.

I have an [oculus](https://imgur.com/a/mChtL80) love it. Just bought a mg22. SS for the ease of cleaning and suppression.

I know I’ve seen it in Walmart. I think $4.50 for the 50rd box. Probably a limit. I bought a bunch on Palmetto. End up paying a little more after shipping. Think I’ve seen the bricks in big box stores such as Scheels. I need to do more testing, but it seems the quiets would cycle my 22/45 sometimes with the Hydra on but it didn’t with the Mask. So maybe there is some more backpressure going on. If you’re in Colorado you can try out my Mask.

Which 10/22 version do you have that has a threaded barrel?

If you’re going with a dedicated can, why not just get an integrally suppressed barrel?

edit: The Bowers Bitty is awesome on a rifle though. Not quite as quiet as my Mask on my bolt action, but close enough that on a semiauto it’d probably be indistinguishable.
