Defective Magazine? My new Glock 19 gen 5 works great but one of the magazines won’t lock the slide back when empty. Racking the slide manually or firing the last round both have the same results. I’m contacting Glock for a replacement but I’m just curious what the cause could be?

I’ve seen a lot of post here lately of the gen 5 magazine followers having issues, breaking & chipping. I think the follower may be your problem.

You could swap followers to see if that’s the case. The magazine spring or the internal dimension of the magazine being slightly out of spec can cause failure to lock back as well.

There is probably plastic overmold from the plastic surrounding the outside of the mag that the follower is catching on, it’s either that or a plastic bur on the follower itself

I have had a 43x mag that had plastic overmold that would catch the follower, easy fix is to take apart the mag and cut the overmold off with a knife

I got a bad magazine with a new 43x a couple months ago. First bad OEM Glock mag I’ve had in 20 years of shooting Glocks. Guess I’ll send it back and see if they’ll replace it. It happens.
