In March, I submitted an eForm 1 to build one of my AR pistols as an AOW. Everything went swimmingly with the process and I went to “processing” the next day. Did my fingerprints at a local place and mailed them 1st class USPS.

35 days later, no updates or anything. So I give them a call to check status and I’m told there’s indication they ever received my prints. The phone agent took down my info, made a note, and suggested I call back this week.

I called yesterday, still no updates and the phone agent suggested the prints were probably lost in the mail. While normally they automatically disapprove applications after 10 days of no prints, they’ve upped it to 45 days. Monday was day 41 out of my 45 days.

When I went to get fingerprinted again (different place) they asked me for the ORI info for the NFA branch and I realized **I didn’t fill out the ORI or SSN fields on the top of my original FD-258.**

So now the correctly completed fingerprint cards are on their way overnight and hopefully I’ll have good news on my callback Thursday.

Lesson learned: fill out every damn box.

I’m sorry, you filed to make a pistol an AOW? Why?

For what it’s worth. I’ve never once filled out the ori box.

Use FEDEX next time don’t use USPS, and pay for the 2 day shipping with a tracking number and make sure they sign for it that way you have record they received them
