The title says it all, If I sell my Ruger LC9s and trade up to a Glock 17, do I need a 2nd pistol permit, or am I fine since I will only be owning 1 gun at a time before am finally in possession of the traded for gun?

    EDIT: State – NC

-I’m laughing at the comments, ” What state do you live in so the rest of us who live in Free Country”

    Thanks

What the fuck is a pistol permit? Where do you live cause that’s not a common thing.

Depends on the laws where you live. Most of the country has no such thing as a pistol permit.

I live in MA and this seems absurd, which is saying something.
I’ve never heard of a law that limits the amount you can own in any state.

You in NC? Pistol permits need to fucking die. For a private sale or trade, I don’t believe a permit is required. Antiquated damned Jim Crow laws.

You have a compact pistol but you don’t have a CCW permit?

For anyone reading – a NC CCW permit eliminates the need to acquire the “per gun” permits from the Sheriff for any type of sale, public or private.

This is why you pay the 25 dollars for five of them. This way you would have four PPPs left and you wouldn’t need to worry about it.

In NC, according to the law you do need another pistol permit. If you are trading up at an FFL they will definitely ask for a permit.

If it’s a private transfer and the other party doesn’t ask for it, nobody from the state is ever going to check. Do with that info what you will.

If you are going through a licensed FFL then yes you’ll need your permit. I’ve done this in NC. If it’s private party it just depends on the other person and if they want one or not.
