GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmI think it would be great to integrate into your training as it’s probably as realistic as you can get outside of milsim

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmIt works well for training if you understand it’s limitations.

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmI think the concept is cool but the community absolutely kills any kind of desire to even be near it

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmI’ve never really given it much thought, but if you like it, have fun.

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmIt’s more about the mindset you take to it, along with the other players mindset.
If you go into it understanding what you can get out of it then sure. If you just think it’s fun then that’s fine too. It can also be decent cardio.
If you go in thinking its going to be a 1-to-1 substitute for training, then no. It can also teach bad habits if you let it.
But is airsoft all that different from soldiers in the woods playing lazertag with blanks? Not really, but again it’s the mindset that’s brought into that.
I’m ex-infantry, and I’d kinda like to do one of the big milsim events just to be able to talk more on the subject when something like this comes up. But I have 2 concerns. One, I feel that the quality of the “soldiers” would be piss poor, especially after having done the real thing. And two, I feel like it’s more geared toward fun than how operations work in the real world. To be fair though, I dont really want to walk 9 hours through the woods at night just to watch the fight from a support-by-fire.

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmgreat way to practice tactics and force on training, and test/tryout gear. also good for practice dryfire and weapons manipulations.
played airsoft as a kid until i could buy real steel. the amount of exposure to real guns and gear airsoft gives you is huge imo.

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmAirsoft itself is cool, the 30something wannabe tactitards not so much.

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmGreat way to shoot your friends without getting the cops involved 🙂
Just don’t equate it with the real thing like some folks do, no such thing as an airsoft operator.

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmI have one somewhere. It’s fun to just shoot cans with, but I’m not gonna get a whole larping setup.

GuestApril 1, 2021 at 7:24 pmI liked air soft because unlike paintball it doesn’t require access to compressed air to play (at least with electronic guns), bbs were way cheaper and there was no maintenance required.
So back in my middle / high school days we could go innna woods to play on a whim without giving a thought to any of the myriad of problems you can run into playing paintball away from a compressed air source.
Today, I like to use my old airsoft guns to teach new shooters muzzle discipline, trigger discipline and the basic manual of arms on the AR and AK platforms before I hand them a real firearm.
