What I mean is you can’t make a mil spec automatic weapon at home…
1. 100% from bar stock, no factory made gun parts at all. (No barrel blanks, 80% receivers, etc)
2. Without highly specialized gun smithing tools.
It’s an argument I’ve gotten into multiple times with people who think their $200 harbor freight lathe and drill press could churn out 100% home made, mil spec gun parts.
I mean even if you had a $10,000 cnc mil lathe combo and you could cut a bolt, gas key, etc how would they cut rifling into the bore of a barrel or heat treat the parts correctly?
I mean, match lock blunderbuss? Sure
Cap lock musket? Sure
Slam fire single shot shotgun? Sure.
Inaccurate, unreliable, smooth bore open bolt smg? Now you are stretching the capabilities of even a competent machinist.
