Don’t know how, all I know is I fked up

GuestJune 12, 2021 at 1:37 pmThere is probably a small piece of the primer in the bolt interfering with the firing pin. Take the bolt apart and clean internally. Should be good to go.

GuestJune 12, 2021 at 1:37 pmI’d swear on the Bible I didn’t over charge it, I hand trickle everything. Maybe the wrong powder?
It was over 100fps hotter than it should be. Could a bore obstruction increase velocity from the pressure spike?
Idk… this was the first shot of the day with a load that’s been safe for hundreds of shots with no pressure signs. Gun won’t fire now either. Think it broke the pin

GuestJune 12, 2021 at 1:37 pmIt can just happens one in a blue moon. It is more common on shotguns from my understanding ( I have seen it 4 times in a year on shotgun. But I and the largish group I hang out with shoot ~10K+ shells a year each)I would also check your firing pin protrusion depth if it keeps happening.
was it just this round?
~~I don’t think it was pressure related.~~ it could still be pressure related. and you will need to get to the bottom of this.

GuestJune 12, 2021 at 1:37 pmSame issue here with moderate loads on 308. Right primers, right headspace, double checked powder load, etc. mine was an AR10 style. Check your firing pin. Mine was sharpened from the plasma blast from a previous overloaded primer pierce. Those gases blast backwards and welds/sharpens the firing pin. Now it’s like a needle instead of a rounded tip. I had to replace mine with a new pin and all is well again. Good luck if this isn’t your issue.

GuestJune 12, 2021 at 1:37 pmLooks like small primer brass? If so you may need to bush the firing pin hole. Some actions will pierce primers even at modest loads. Magnum primers or bushing the pin hole will help. Or switch to large primer brass.
