GuestJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:40 pmI served as a conscript on the Estonian army and we had many situations like this during our training. The pine forests are quite difficult places to have a battle at. You have almost no overview of the frontline and have no idea where the enemy units are positioned. The enemy can also move for quite long periods in the shadow of trees. Chances of either the enemy surrounding your or your own troops mistaking you for the enemy or just walking into the line of fire are quite big.

GuestJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:40 pmWhen shooting in a forest like that, do you actually see the enemy, or do you just try to pinpoint their general location or something and shot in that direction

GuestJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:40 pmNever did I think I’d see the day where a professional soldier would run an American ACOG on a Russian AK and use that set up to shoot Russians, but here we are.

GuestJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:40 pmgood fire discipline
It’s anxiety inducing watching this and wondering how many minutes until they start taking indirect fire

GuestJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:40 pmSandy pine forest = S. Donets river valley most likely.

The darker areas around Izyum, Svyatohirsk, Slovyansk/Lyman, Rubizhne/Lysychansk.
Looks like summer or early autumn to me.

GuestJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:40 pmI wonder what the animals of the forest must think. “Fuckin humans at it again I’m out”. Or maybe a bear would be nonchalant and just walk by, grab some food. The birds seem to be chill about it they’re chirping at the end.

GuestJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:40 pmGenuinely asking as I have never been in combat. I was straining to see what they were shooting at, is this just suppressive fire? Also not sure how often you see your enemy.
Being that they are behind berms I could see how this is a battle of attrition, just curious if someone with some real knowledge could weigh in?

GuestJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:40 pmHorrifying. They unload entire magazines into them point blank and they just… stand there. These trees are formidable
