Hey all! Hoping someone can give me a clear answer here.

I’ve read that it’s possible to run a gen 4 G19 slide on a G19x frame as long as you run the G19x back plate without any issue.

Is the same possible for the G19x slide on a gen 4 G19 frame as well with the swapped backing plates?

I’m just wanting to do this for the two-tone look for both without any hassles of cerakoating anything. Thanks!

19x is gen 5 and will run gen 4 slides as long as as you do two sometimes three things.

    1 run a gen 5 back plate.

2 this is a depends one but gen 4 didnt have ambi slide catches so you have to either run without it or run a gen 4 one for it to work.

3 depending on what type of barrel you may have to get a gen 5 one example a gen 5 17 barrel will work in a 19x frame but a gen 4 17 barrel will not work and locks your gun up as i found out yesterday when i was playing with my new slide

Hey all! Thanks for all the input. I’ve just swapped both slides on and did nothing but change the backing plates for each respectively. Function test is all fine here at home so far. Safeties both work. Will test at range whenever I can!

No. There is no cut for the ambi slide catch on a gen 4 slide. So maybe changing back plates will work. But you will never be able to lock your slide to the rear. Either by choice or by empty mag follower

Also the firing pin safety design is different and may not disengage properly
