I know you can get conversion barrels to go from 40-9mm but can you do the same in reverse by just changing the barrel?

My job carrys 40 and I want to shoot major in my off time doing comp without loading my own 9mm

I already have a 19 can I just get a new barrel or do I have to buy a slide and barrel?

    No.

.40 in in diameter is greater than .355.

You would need new slide and barrel. Not 100% sure if 19.5 frames and 23.5 frames and internals are 100% the same. Would assume ejector is different.

Needs a slide too because the 9mm breechface is too skinny for .40. Need to change the ejector too.

Not all Divisions have major powers. It really only Open and limited divisions had major power. You would compete with heavenly modified guns with gas pedals and weights. If you’re just starting out go to production and there is no Major. I did that for a bit. working on my Limited decision G35 ATM. Hope this helps and good luck
