Trying to think of a good gun option to bring for my daughter for her first hunt this deer season. My first gun was a 22 mag cricket, but where we can hunt rimfires aren’t legal so expanding to look for other options. In a perfect world it would be the size of one of those youth guns like a cricket, or savage rascal, but a legal hunting caliber (.22 or larger and centerfire). Bonus points if it has a threaded barrel to accept a suppressor. For size of child think 3 year old.

So you want your 3-year old to be able to kill a deer, why not start on something smaller and more frequent like a squirrel . Think you can fine a Ruger or savage in 223 or 300BO. You should also be able to find the Ruger 57 carbine, that will be over your 22-cal limit

Why does a 3-year old need to shoot a centrefire or take a deer? 😹

6mm arc is the lightest recoiling centerfire rifle cartridge I’ve shot. 3/3 on dead deer with it.

    I wouldn’t let a 3 year old shoot anything besides a 22 unless they’re shooting from a lead sled

Ruger makes a 300 Blackout bolt action in a youth stock, with a threaded barre.

Might this be the ultimate youth hunting rifle?

6.5 grendel, howa makes a rifle otherwise ar 15. Low recoil, plenty of energy for deer sized game.

Ha I read that backwards. Seems like they are using ar15s nowadays
