So during my last range session, I decided to pop one off without hearing protection to ‘know what it’s like’.. I wanted to make sure the hearing aspect wouldn’t perturb me in the event that I ever needed to use my carry pistol in a real circumstance.
I didn’t drop my pistol like a bitch, but it was very unpleasant and one of my ears isn’t quite the same as before (it’s been a few days, did it on Sunday). My left ear got it worse than my right. You know that quality that some blown out speakers have where there’s a subtle crackle to everything it plays? That’s kind of going on in my left ear now. No tinnitus, but when there’s somewhat loud sound playing, like music, I’ll hear a subtle crackle in my left ear.
.. Is this going to be a life long thing or will it clear up? I wasn’t expecting that a single shot from a 9mm pistol would cause this. I was totally fine with the temporary ringing, but this seems like it might be permanent.
