How to catch this bass
Posted by informal_day_4322 on June 23, 2022 at 2:39 pmI am currently in vacation, and there is this big bass that sits under our pontoon, I have been trying to catch all week so far, I have dropped green pumpkin craws, worms, spin baits and it just won’t bite, it comes out and scares all the other fish away from the bait but will stare at mine and then swim off, any suggestion on how to catch it? I’ve caught bass before but idk maybe this one needs to be factory reset

GuestJune 23, 2022 at 2:39 pmDo you have access to get some baitfish? Creek chubs or shiners will be candy to this bass

GuestJune 23, 2022 at 2:39 pmMy experience with fish like this is you need to do finesse. You’ll need fluoro or some line that is hard to see and you’ll have to work it for a hot minute to get it to bite. I’ve done it with a senko, just popping the bait up and down in front of the bass. You might have to mess with bait colors a little bit too. If the fish does hit, it’ll either slam it unexpectedly or suck it in and spit it quickly so you’ll need to be ready. There’s also a chance that this fish just won’t hit under any condition except for a specific time of day.

GuestJune 23, 2022 at 2:39 pmI present to you the mythical pressured bass, if it’s on a bed it’s most likely catchable but if it just sitting under the boat in open water you probably wont be able to catch it with lures unless your’e a really experienced angler. The only thing that will work is live bait but that kind of takes the challenge out of bass fishing for me at least

GuestJune 23, 2022 at 2:39 pmI’d try to maybe bounce a ned rig up and down. Try the ned fry

GuestJune 23, 2022 at 2:39 pmTry deadsticking with a Senko or other soft plastic stick bait covered in a fish attractant. Drop it in and let it sit undisturbed until you can’t take waiting any longer, at this point wait a few more minutes. Then lift the bait off the bottom a few feet (not too fast but not slowly either)
and let it drop again and repeat. Watch your line closely and set the hook if you see movement. It can get boring to the point of being stressful but works pretty well, particularly in clear cooler water. -

GuestJune 23, 2022 at 2:39 pmZoom Tiny Fluke, probably in Baby Bass this time of year, or whatever bait color is most prevalent. Weightless on light line/light hook, throw it upwind and let the wind push it under. Watch your shadow.
