Side note the shell holder can be used instead of a collet in these

Lol literally just pulled 50 rounds of 300 prc. Never making that mistake again.

What was your mistake? I just had to pull 50 6.5 Creedmoor loads to redo with magnum primers after finding CCI 400 cups were too thin.

An impact hammer is good for pulling the occasional round apart. For several rounds, it is nicer to have a collet puller, like from Hornady and RCBS. You’ll need the puller and the collets for the particular calibers that you reload for.

I’m thankful for my collet puller. A buddy gave me 1000 rounds of commercially reloaded 300 Blackout that were too spicy. Blowing primers out the ass and the primers were jamming up the action. I’m still in the process of pulling all of those rounds apart.

    When in doubt, pull out.

Can save you in many ways.

Is it really “messing up” when you have the tools to fix it?

I found a way to do this using my drill press. Grab the bullet with the chuck, put the round through the floor plate hole with a shell holder on it, use the handle like a slide hammer to break a crimp and pull the bullet out. Make sure to hold the bottom of the shell holder after you break the crimp, put your thumb over the entrance groove or you will spill powder everywhere. I did this with 308 and it works ok.

Glad to see this happening. They might have worked, but why risk it? Kind of like driving 80 mph on bald tires on the rain.

Everyone does something like this when they reload. Done it more than once myself.

    Stay safe!
