I always wonder how a traffic stop would go if I got pulled over on the way to the range

* Knights Armament 14.5 SR-15 with Sig Tango6T (Tango likely turning into an ATACR 1-8 soon)
* Knights Armament 11.5 CQB with Gen 2 Razor
* Honey Badger 300 blackout with EOTech (trying to figure out which optic I want to live on there, black EO is temporary)
Pistol is a Staccato C2 (RMR mount will be delivered today so that will go on as soon as the mail shows up.)

First time I got stopped by the police ever was during a DWI checkpoint. I had my pistol (glock 21) between the center console and my passenger seat. Told the cop where it was and he joked “don’t shoot me with it hahah” then said “good thing these FNG’s didn’t get this car. They’d probably freak out”
Another time I was stopped at a different check point ran by state police.
I rolled down my window. Kept my hands o. The steering wheel and told him I had a handgun and where it was at. He immediately got butthurt asking why I had a gun. I said for protection.
“Protection from what? Are you a cop?”
“Then why do you need a gun?!? “
“Because the second amendment guarantees me that right. I’ve got a copy of the bill of rights if you’d like to see it?”
He didn’t like that very much and hassled me on the beer in my cooler in the back of the truck.

It’s happened to me cop was cool actually let me go from the speeding ticket. It’s legit when you actually have range bags, target stand etc. I’ve seen friends transport their AR just sitting in the open and I wouldn’t recommend that easy way for a green po po to freak out.

If it were me who pulled you over, I’d definitely be admiring your KAC!

I pulled a guy over for failure to maintain his lane and cell phone usage. He had a honey badger up front and a Mk12 clone in the back. Most of the traffic stop ended up being about suppressor performance and gas blow back.

It can vary wildly depending mostly on the personality of the individual cop. They are just people.
Some wouldn’t care. Some might want to see if you have anything good. Some might start trying to find a way to escalate.

If it was CA they’d say “Man speeding on Highway breaks traffic laws, the police officer on scene found an Arsenal in his car!” Or “During a routine traffic stop, officer finds man with an Arsenal in his car”

A friend and I were headed to the range one summer day and he ended up accidentally turning up a one-way side street. There was a cop sitting there and he pulled us over. We had everything in range bags and he obviously saw everything in the back seat of the SUV. It looked like we were about to do a heist. He was super cool about it and was actually a member of the same gun club
I would not ever suggest transporting anything to the range loaded or not in proper carrying bags/cases. Be smart.

If they fit in the truck then it wouldn’t be an issue lol but I assume most cops wouldn’t care
mooselubeGuestJune 14, 2021 at 3:51 am
cop would probably be like “can I come?”
hevea_brasiliensisGuestJune 14, 2021 at 3:51 am
” just me and the boys headed out!”
– “I don’t see anyone else in the car”
*Lifts flap to the bag*
– “oh right, have a nice day!”
KRG-556GuestJune 14, 2021 at 3:51 am
Cops in my town at least will start drooling and get all giddy when you’ve got all them KACs out!
SpearWeaselGuestJune 14, 2021 at 3:51 am
Only a problem if the officer pulls out his own KAC and says he needs to perform a “breathalyzer”….
