    It might not be as ancient as you think. Could be a year or less. Weather does weird things to metal in a short time.

    They look to be tarnished, but are they antique? Are they folded head cases? Those generally are older versions. “REM-UMC” and “PETERS” are usually pretty old cases.

    I’d toss it, it will probably split first firing.

    I found a buried 9mm that looked better than that and it split all down the side when I fired it.

    In other words, “I’m going to be put this really old brass in an expensive gun and see if it holds up even though .38 brass is dirt cheap.”
