I had a bunch of surplus 7.62×51 brass and was happily reloading it but discovered the hard way that some of it had berdan primers… DOH!

Technically, you could still load. You just have to find another method to decap. As someone mentioned, Dillon customer service can assist. But, do yourself a favor and keep extra pins on hand. Also, there should be a spare in the box for your dies.

You should do yourself a favor and buy like a dozen of those pins. Nothing’s more frustrating then prepping a bunch to reload and hitting a road block. You could also get a hardened steel pin like this one: https://www.squirreldaddy.com/Decapping-pin-s/336.htm

Been there before, lol, then I bought half a dozen from midway….. Murphy’s Law thousands of rounds later haven’t broken a single one since 🤣

Just use a 40 or 45 die to decap.
Hell, 308 would work fine too.

Knock primers out with a pin punch and a hole in something.

Do you have another die you could “borrow” a pin from to keep you humming along until the replacements arrive?

Damn, been here before. Now I keep a backup Universal die and extra pins.

A socket (10mm etc…) and a 1/8” punch will work as a decapper in a pinch. I do my crimped nato rounds like this to save my decapping rod until I ream the pockets.
