Got the Monstrum cantilever mount and then the the accessory ring mount hoping the holes would line up so I can just use that as the top ring and I lucked out without having to drill anything. Not like it needs to stand up to the recoil of my 45-70 so we’ll see how the setup does. Will honestly probably take the red dot off and use it as a normal accessory mount but fun to play with for now.

Dude, in the end, it’s your rifle and you don’t have to please anyone but yourself. Asking for opinions on the internet will definitely get results, most of which you probably won’t like. Just remember, I doubt too many responders are former Navy SEALs or special forces and most have probably never even been in the military. So you do what you want to your gun and enjoy it. Nothing is as much fun as changing your ar15 up whenever you want. Its the most fun you can have with your pants on. Anyone disagree?

Oh, and as for BUIS? Get a set of angled sights… problem solved!

No need for back up sights without a qd mount
