    First of all, it looks awesome. There are some technical things to consider…

    Probably does not make a difference, but I would tie the squirrel on ‘upside down’ to match the way the fly rides in the water.

    Also, I personally would not use squirrel or rabbit on a balanced fly, where it is either dead-drifted or hung in stillwater because the tail fouls around the hook bend frequently. I would stick to marabou.

    Is that kit any good? I haven’t started fly tying yet but maybe a Christmas ask for me.

    Yes- the kit has everything you need to get started. Great value and the quality is excellent.
