Is the Ruger ar-556 a good rifle?

I’m looking at getting an ar and I saw a AR556 for 800 and was wondering if it is a reliable gun.

Ruger makes good rifles. With the current market and availability, I can’t give any advice on that rifle at that price, but I wouldn’t worry about it being reliable.

I have the 16 inch version and changed out some furniture on it, but it has been fine for me. I don’t know that I would pay $800 for it though, but I am glad I have it.

It’s a good rifle. But for $800 get the IWI Zion

I’ve had mine for a year and a half and it has been perfect. I bought mine new for <$500. A quick look on line shows a floating hand guard AR556 for less than $700. Ruger is also a fine company and will take care of any issues you may possibly have.

Mine run great. 800+ is steep but times are crazy, so… do what ya gotta.

For $600, it’s a great rifle
For $800 it’s not

For less money you can get and S&W M&P Sport II. I would take that over a standard model any day. If you’re talking about the free float, maybe. I’m not familiar with that one. If you’re talking about the MPR version then go for it.
