  • Lake Of The Woods Overnight Rentals? (Minnesota side)

Has anyone had a good experience going out of a certain resort on Lake of the Woods for an Ice Shack Rental. Me and some friends are looking to go out around the beginning of the new year. Looking for recommendations for an overnight shack rental on the ice or if you’ve had a better experience doing day shack rentals and staying in a cabin off the lake? (I’ve heard the night bite slows down heavy on LotW and its a lot of eelpout in the night). We’d be coming from the Twin Cities so out of the Minnesota side of the lake. Sorry I realize this is a very location specific question. Any insight appreciated! So excited for ice in MN!

A vote here for skipping on the sleeper. Definitely more of a ‘banker’s hours’ area and the comforts of a cabin for sleeping/bathroom outweigh the slim chance of a rare night bite in my opinion. Several sleeper options up there if you want to do it once though just to experience it.

Boarderview is great. 4 nights 3 days fishing for just over $600. First day you’ll probably want to follow them out to the day shacks and after that just grab your bait and follow the map. If your back before a certain time they process your fish and drop them off to your cabin. My buddy and I stayed in a one bedroom with a queen and twin. Had a living room/kitchen/bathroom. It’s nice to have a shower instead of smelling ball sack, fish, and beer from staying out on the ice all night. Super friendly staff.
Im sure a lot of the resort companies out there are good I’ve just never been let down by Boarderview.

Arnesons Rocky Point. Staying overnight on the ice Fri-Sun will be roughly mid $200’s. Great place to catch plenty of fish. Primarily because they don’t let the public wheel house crowd use their access.

I went to Spotsman’s when I was in college. We got a crazy deal because it was end of season and my buddy worked there so I can’t really speak to the value. That said, we had fun. The cabin was nice and the bar was fun.

I go up every year and we stay at Ballard’s resort. Not sure if they have Sleeper Rentals but they run a top notch resort and everything is well maintained. I’ve stay at Wigwam back when they had the old owners, Sportsmans but so far we don’t feel the need to try a different resort.
