I use the upper side of cast data for plated. Most plated bullets are actually just a thin copper wash and shouldn’t be pushed to hard.

I use jacketed, but start at lead load levels.

I was developing a 44 mag load with leftover Ranier 240g plated bullets last weekend.

Using alliant 2400, I had to keep dropping powder charges to keep an average below1200fps. I ended up well under Lyman’s suggested starting load for lead. Not ideal.

The super Blackhawk I was using has a 7.5″ barrel, so I suspect anything shorter would help keep velocity down.

Use lead data, and work up. You don’t have to start at the floor, just keep it under max until you figure it out.
