Hows the recoil impulse on that compared to a DI AR-15 or AK pattern rifle?

I’m in love with my AK-74 because the long stroke piston system is just so gentle. Its about the same amount of recoil as a DI AR, but it feels such more smoother. In comparison an AR feels like some is smacking the side of the gun with a rubber mallet.
