Hey guys has anyone done this yet? I’m getting one from my uncle that’s already been molested and it’s not original and I kinda want to bring it to the 21st century. Just trying to find out if it’s going to have to be a full fledged hand build ordeal or if someone knows some stuff I don’t.

Sounds like quite a project. Sling swivels are an easy add but to put a red dot on you would need a saddle with a rail on top which I don’t know if they even make for a model 12. I’ve never seen one. Flaring a feed is a gun smithing job that requires machining, and as far as getting a ported barrel it’s not something you do to a barrel, you would look to buy an already manufactured ported barrel which again I have never seen for a model 12. There’s not much you need to do to an actual magazine tube other than disassemble and clean, maybe replace the spring.

What are you looking for in the build?

If you want a custom gun just buy a mossberg 500. It’ll already be threaded and much cheaper. The M12 will be difficult and expensive to alter… and you’ll likely regret it at a later date. If it doesn’t have any sentimental value it’ll be much cheaper to sell it and invest in something else.
