Non-hunting unscented laundry detergent
-
So I was wondering if anyone has had any issues using a dye free/perfume free (unscented) laundry detergent like tide free and clear on their hunting clothes. Having looked at both hunting laundry detergent and the regular unscented stuff I can’t really see the difference (outside of the natural earth scent additives in the hunting detergent).
Just wondering everyones opinions.

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 1:17 pmMy husband uses the non scented detergent (general stuff you get at Costco etc) on his hunting clothes and it works well for both cleaning and making him scent free when he hunts.

I use Oxyclean on bloodstained stuff. I don’t believe it has dye or scent. It works great on blood.
We keep Tide with Fabreeze on hand for really stinky, summertime, sweaty, packed home in a laundry bag stuff. And dirt bike riding clothes.

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 1:17 pmIt might be less about being scent free as much as it is about not using detergent with UV brighteners.
Better to smell pretty than glow like a radioactive stick.

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 1:17 pmswitched to unscented detergent in my washer for regular clothes and then not using detergent to wash hunting clothes and it has made a huge difference in the number of close encounters I have with deer. I also always air dry my hunting clothes outside for a week or so and then store them in an unscented garbage bag in an air tight tub with some evergreen needles and oak leaves thrown in.
