I just picked up my first fishing kayak, crescent ultralight, yeah! Need a paddle. Looking for something under 200 that has a small diameter shaft and not aluminum. I’ve heard good things about aqua bound? Other recs? Does not have to be a fishing specific paddle, actually don’t care for hook retriever feature on a paddle. Probably something in the 240 to 250cm range, I am pretty short. Thank you!

I got the AquaBound Manta hybrid. Carbon shaft fiberglass paddles. Feels good in my hand and is real light. You can find them on sale for about $150

I have a Werner shuna hooked and love it. I didn’t pay full retail for it as I got it for $115 bucks on sale but I would pay full retail for it if I had to

I’ll have to take a closer look at Werner. Thanks!

IMO 240 is way too long for a 30″ wide boat. You need to remember a longer shaft has less leverage, it’s like cycling in high gear: A slower cadence and more stress on your body. I have a $150 Bending Branches Slice Hybrid+, it has carbon shaft and nylon blades, and a sliding ferrule that adjusts from 215 to 230. The angle offset is also infinitely adjustable. I’m 5′ 8″, been kayaking 30 years, and usually use it at 215. The offset is also infinitely adjustable.
