Hello everyone as the title states I have just recently picked up a DDM4A1 as a home defense weapon, and I want to put a nice optic on it. I do have astigmatism and more so in my shooting eye to my knowledge. I was told that prismatic optics are perfect for this and I am pretty impressed so far. I have seen offerings from Vortex, Burris, Leupold (unfortunately discontinued), Primary Arms, and of course the famous Trijicon ACOG in the compact 1.5x. What do y’all think of prismatic optics as a whole, and what are your recommendations? Initially I don’t want to spend $1,000 for a 1.5-4x ACOG, but responses regarding their performance/practicality are welcome. Thank you for your time, take care, and God Bless.

    Home defense?

You’re looking at tight corners, low light, and quick acquisition. CompM4 or M4S.

Prism, LPVOs, or anything with an etched reticle will work for you. I prefer an LPVO with an offset dot.

I’ve quickly become a fan of the Primary Arms GLx 2x as a defensive prism. Not as comfortable as a 1x for close in, but it is still plenty workable. It’s also daylight bright and has an adjustable diopter for fine tuning for your eyes.

I have a swampfox 3x prism on mine, love it.
Can’t go wrong for the price.
They also offer a 1x, haven’t had any trigger time with that one specifically.
They are usually in stock too

I have the Primary Arms 2x on my HD AR and its a solid option. I’ve been clumsy with it and bumped it a couple of times against doors and it still functions without issue
