Fuck it if you gotta carry illegally it shouldn’t matter , we’re talkin about your well being my boi just try not to get caught with it and also make sure not to leave finger prints on your bullets which means whenever you load the rounds in your mag use gloves or socks whatever is available to you or use some type of cloth 😎

Carrying a gun that does not function is a great way to get killed or in serious trouble. Carry POM pepper spray or something similar

Know you said mugging, but if you happen to end up in a dispute, pull a real pistol ( despite being non functioning) other person pulls their weapon, shoots you and they have clean record and you are a felon with a gun, wouldn’t turn out well for you if you survive, and I get you’re not a violent felon by your stated charge, but once you’re in court, you’re still a felon. I’d go another route.
If you have to worry about mugging that much , maybe relocate as well. I get that’s not always easy but just saying

What kind of dumb fucking idea is that, that’s essentially saying you want to carry a real gun but have no bullets. That is just a recipe for disaster my friend. Contact an attorney and try to get your record expunged brother.

Have you looked into getting your rights restored?

Well that is not a firearm really but still, that is dangerous also. Plus every state has different laws and rules on that
