Know you said mugging, but if you happen to end up in a dispute, pull a real pistol ( despite being non functioning) other person pulls their weapon, shoots you and they have clean record and you are a felon with a gun, wouldn’t turn out well for you if you survive, and I get you’re not a violent felon by your stated charge, but once you’re in court, you’re still a felon. I’d go another route.
If you have to worry about mugging that much , maybe relocate as well. I get that’s not always easy but just saying
