    Hello,
I recently came across an interesting video of a “discarding sabot” shotgun slug. Seems pretty cool!

I am curious if this sort of concept (thin projectile with a pusher/sabot) could be used to achieve rifle-like ballistics at a fairly long range (accurate to several hundred yards like a .308 or similar) out of a 12ga.
Obviously, there will be some difficulties. Imagine it might take a lot of powder and a really good sabot to efficiently harness it/not fall apart to shock.
However, if the Abrams Tank can achieve good results using sabot darts from a smoothbore cannon.. why not a smoothbore shotgun!
