I know the brake may add a sacrificial baffle to increase life on the suppressor but I don’t know if I’ll shoot my 556 ar suppressed at all times. I’ll probably shoot suppressed 80-90% of the time. Some people say that their da cans had visible signs of erosion after 4000 rounds and to not use the flash hider. I feel like the stellite in the sandman is pretty freaking tough already and even if there was erosion isn’t that something da warranty covers in the long run? So long story short, brake or flash hider? Thanks!

GuestMay 16, 2021 at 9:14 amAlways use a brake when you don’t have an actual reason to be using a flash hider unsuppressed. Stellite is abrasion resistant but stellite baffles are castings which can have porosity issues that lead to baffle mouth chipping.

GuestMay 16, 2021 at 9:14 amI use a brake on my DDM4V7 and a flash hider on my Saint Edge Pistol. I would have liked to use brakes on both, but if i ever shoot nice hot 5.56 out of that 10.3″ barrel with a brake, i better be wearing double ear protection… Not to mention the poor people in the lanes next to mine.
I got the sandman-S because it’s supposed to take some real abuse, check some of the full auto torture tests on youtube. Guy on another forum claims to have 10K rounds on his sandman-S and even though there is corrosion, it still does the job. At some point the lifetime warranty will have to be tested but I’m not not worried about it

GuestMay 16, 2021 at 9:14 amI also have this question. I just got a 556 rigle that i plan to shoot both suppressed and unsuppressed but recently read somewhere that flash hiders harm the suppress. Is this true? My rifle originally came with a flash hider so i was aiming to keep the original look but now idk.
