I have been waterfowl and upland hunting my whole life. I would like to get into big game hunting with purchasing a new rifle. It would mostly be used for whitetail deer but I would like it to be capable for elk. Anybody have thoughts on the above two options?

I’m not a fan of the 7mm, they work ok just a personal thing. The 6.5 prc will work good out to 300 yards it holds its energy farther out than the 6.5 creedmore. Either one will do the job the 7mm is a bit to much for deer. Just don’t shoot them in a heavy bone and your fine. Check the ballistics on the ammo you choose to determine what range you can go out to. They recommend at least 1800 foot pounds of energy for elk.

I’d go with the 7mm Remington Magnum, but either one would be a good choice.
