Ghost ring sight or bead sight, the one you have doesn’t seem up for it

Here’s what you need….But, you’ll have to do some measuring to find the correct rear sight height: https://www.midwestgunworks.com/ssearch.html?Search=marble%27s+flat+top

You could go fiber optic. Or put a red dot on it. If just firing shot, then a bead would work fine

Maybe I’m getting old, I say remove the rear, change the front to a gold bead and enjoy.

What I have here is a Mossberg 500 12 gauge that I got as a police trade in. It works great and is reliable, except this rear sight post here. It will stay up and positively click into position, but it will immediately collapse after the first round is fired. It looks like the pen that is holding it in is threaded and slightly bent or pushed out of shape. If I can’t fix it, I would replace it, but I don’t even know where to begin googling this. I’ve had trouble finding this style of sight online

Is that rust at the base of the post?
