My dad is trying to build his own rifle, and has reached out to me for help as he has gotten his buffer retaining pin stuck. He told me he had put the spring in and then the pin, and feels like he has pushed down too hard and now it’s stuck down. (Picture below)

He’s also said he tried using needle nose pliers to get it out but can get a good grip.

Anyone have any tips on a quick fix?

Needle nose vise grip. If needed grind down the noses of the pliers to fit. Just an idea.

If it was my predicament, first I would get a punch and a hammer and try hitting it a couple times. If its bound up, the impact might knock it loose. Next I’d try small pliers/forceps

Has he tried a pair of [small dikes](https://www.homedepot.com/p/URREA-5-9-16-in-Long-Rubber-Grip-Diagonal-Cutting-Pliers-205G/202797809)?

It’ll be very difficult to drill it out since the bit will hop off the detent and try to ride against the receiver.

Drill it out and buy a new one.
