Tamarack 100, okay on rivers?

I’m a total kayaking n00b, only been out a few times, but I’ve got a Tamarack 100 on the way, hope to have it by Monday. I’ll stick to a lake for my first few outings, but how do these kayaks do on rivers? The lower Columbia river is 10 minutes from my house, and I’d much prefer heading down there instead of the nearest lake(which is a so-so fishing experience at best). I’ll stay out of the shipping channels of course, but is this kayak decent enough to fish a large, deep river?
