The Red Squirrels at my camp have pushed out the grey squirrels terribly (I’ve only seen 2 so far this year.) The reds are unprotected in NY and I’m hoping at this rate the grey squirrels might start coming back around.

Strange in the UK the grey squirrel has completely killed off the red squirrel. How come it’s different where you are?

I’ve been searching online and found nothing about the red squirrels pushing out the grey squirrels. Is this only at your area, or have you seen this somewhere else?

Why do you hunt them? They are a plague? Not hate, just curious.

Great job at shutting those lil noise makers up. Yes, they are a unregulated specie in NYS and can be taken year round, day or night without limit and any (legal)weapon. Where our deer camp is in the lower Catskills of NY we see them often and are favorite dish/prey of Fisher.

The reds love the tall conifers.

I grew up calling them jack squirrels, quick little buggers, they’re a tough target to hit

I’m from the UK and got mad seeing this, then remembered that America has red squirrels too. Good shooting! I could never do this here
