Just wanted to ask some people if its safe to transport a 12 ft Kayak on a 2 door car without a roof rack? With just using 2 cam straps and foam blocks. Also do you need to secure the bow and stern for transport

I transport my 10ft on my car with 2 foam blocks and 2 ratchet straps, I suggest twisting the straps to prevent vibration and paint chipping, and the very loud humming from the vibration of the strap if the strap isn’t twisted. Stern and bow aren’t secure, and have traveled 75 mph down the interstate w/ no issues.

Can you do it? Probably. Is it safe? I wouldn’t do it without securing the front and back, and even with the blocks your roof may cave a bit when you secure it. They make crossbars for naked roofs that you should look into. I have a set of Malone’s, they work great.
