My local Walmart has 22-250 and .25-06 in stock (consistently getting new boxes of ammo 4-6 boxes of various manufacturers) until about a month ago when everything finally went out of stock ammo wise (even black powder).

One of the first times I went to the range an older guy let me shoot a 16 oz water bottle at 200 yards with a .22-250. It vaporized it.

It was a benchrest rifle and he had it on some sort of advanced lead sled device, so I basically just had to pull the trigger.

This caliber is in stock basically everywhere near me. I ended up building a rifle in 22-250 this winter after borrowing a buddy’s and harvesting 3 whitetail with super clean kills. Having ammo available and knowing the caliber could do the job was a good excuse to pick up a new rifle.

I haven’t been able to find any 22-250 anywhere near me either. I finally broke down and bought the reloading dies for it.

    Care to share your recipe?

What powder do you find works well? I’m guessing Nosler bullets…?

I’ve got a box of Norma ammo that can’t seem to find a home. Very few seem to shoot this caliber. I guess people figure the barrel will be toast after twenty rounds…?

Funny, that’s one of the only things on the shelf in my area.
