It seems DeSantis is the leading candidate in the 2024 election besides Trump. Both sides media extensively cover DeSantis approach and views on Social Policy but as far as I can tell don’t really get into his economic policy beliefs. I have no idea for example if DeSantis is a protectionist or free trader. A deficit hawk or doesn’t really care like Trump. Whether DeSantis is a hard-core libertarian like Paul, a soft libertarian like the average republican, a centrist like Romney, or an industrialist like Rubio. If anyone has particular policies or quotes about how DeSantis has and would act as president im very curious to hear.

If I am not mistaken, not too terribly long ago in late May or early June I read some news articles where Florida had a huge surplus budget leftover and he was wanting to put that money back into the communities. He apparently saved Florida a ton of money, seeming very fiscally conservative.

Desantis will lean heavily into Florida not have a state tax and Florida’s robust economy. He probably will avoid details and just run on floridas record.

The media, for as much as the hate trump, will use trump to tear down Desantis. Once the come close to each other in the primary, the left will stick every microphone they can find in trumps face to get him to bad mouth Desantis.

DeSantis has been running FLA. like a conservative.

I voted twice for Trump and while I would again I wish he doesn’t run , this country needs to cool down the political fighting . If a calm non polarizing Republican can mimic Trumps sucess it will go a long way towards to hurting Democrat lies about us and SHUTTING up the rabid Liberals in the Press . The Press is who I blame for getting us in this Biden mess , they are the real traitor’s in the country .

Trump is the leading candidate in 2024. Anyone that believes DeSantis should leave his position in power in FL BEFORE the country is at least heading in the right direction, needs their heads examined.

States have the power. We are a republic. The country is a dumpster fire. FL is literally one of the very FEW bastions of freedom / true America left in the country right now.

Giving that up before the country is heading in the right direction is the epitome of stupidity.

Trump has the foreign policy experience (that DeSantis has none of) , not to mention already showed what he could do with domestic policy (booming economy, booming stock market, record low unemployment, low taxes, net energy independent, low gas prices, strong military, American businesses moving back to America – Auto/steel, securest southern border in over 75 years, an average $4600+ income increase over Obama for the middle glass, not to mention only president in the last 50 years that no new wars were started under)

I have no idea why ANYONE would want anyone other than what someone has done above and ALREADY has PROVEN what he can do and performed.

DeSantis’s day will come. But he IS NEEDED in FL until the country isn’t an absolute mess. It’s the last bastion of hope we can at least flee to if it all goes to heck. You do NOT want to give that up yet.

I think OP has a great question, I have the same question. Looks like it has not been answered yet (at least definitively). Instead a lot of infighting lol. It’s my contention that DeSantis is leaning heavily into the culture wars in order to muddy the fact that he could be a run of the mill corporate tool/swamp creature economically. I’d love to be proven wrong. I have this sense that I may be right unfortunately. I remember this story during covid where he prioritized giving the first rollout of vaccines to his buddies in rich neighborhoods, instead of the people in general.

He’s basically pro business without seemingly constantly kissing their butt (see Disney). Doesn’t believe in wild spending but he’s not really all that much on the Libertarian side.

He is a very skilled politician and communicator, something that Trump was not. While Trump would stand up and call the media fake news, which of course they are, DeSantis will make examples out of them. For example the local reporter that asked DeSantis about his “don’t say gay bill” and DeSantis made a fool out of the reporter by showing that the reporter never bothered to even read the bill.

The key to shutting up the press is to make them irrelevant to the conversation.
