what are things you wish you had bought earlier in your hunting journey?
-
Relatively new hunter here.. have been getting into mostly waterfowl, upland birds and the occasional turkey hunt.
Just curious to hear what people (looking back) wish they had or had not bought as far as gear is concerned.

GuestMay 14, 2022 at 3:14 pmSecond vote on hand warmer pouch. I primarily chase waterfowl and I hate using gloves because I lose dexterity in my fingers, and I don’t like how goose calls sound with gloved hands. Plus it’s a great place to stow snacks when birds come in 10 seconds after you open a bag of crackers lol.

GuestMay 14, 2022 at 3:14 pmBuy nice, not twice. Wish I bought good stuff the first time around to avoid repurchase and loss of money.

GuestMay 14, 2022 at 3:14 pmBetter calls, at first I didn’t see the need for a $40 turkey call until I got more into turkey hunting. I still have my $10 slate but I never use it.

GuestMay 14, 2022 at 3:14 pmI wish I would have spent more money on quality gear . Buy once cry once. Everything that I’ve had that isn’t top notch quality I’ve replaced.

GuestMay 14, 2022 at 3:14 pmNot applicable for your hunting but boots and trail cams. The things I wish I didn’t spend money on are expensive trendy camo. I went down that road and now I use Walmart camo.

GuestMay 14, 2022 at 3:14 pmGlass for sure. Binocs are huge for turkey hunts if you ask me along with a rangefinder. Most importantly though and this may just be my opinion. Having a nice “pouch” for all of your equipment (calls, decoys, binocs, etc.) is my biggest suggestion. Something with enough pockets and room to carry everything you need without too much of a hindrance on sound, visibility, or bulkyness while traveling
