Basically what this does is leave people who build their own guns, even from a serialized lower from an FFL in limbo, while the big manufactures will be able to send off samples to get approvals for each firearm. I feel like this is a trick for the ATF to get this passed without the big industry backers putting up as much of a fight. In their minds this will get the NRA to back off, but I really don’t think it is going to work as the GOA, 2AF, etc. will keep filing lawsuits.

My hope is that by opening this up for comment they are going to force the SCOTUS’s hand at which point they will rule that SBR’s are common use and protected by the 2A.

Visit savethebraces.com. Call your representatives and demand they oppose ATF’s proposal on braces. Demand they respect and protect the constitution. TAKE ACTION NOW!

I’m pretty sure one of my guns has at least 1000 points!

Also, the 4 point system doesn’t mean you get 4 points. It means they consider your gun likely to be an SBR on a scale of 1-4 based off your features. 1 being “we kind of think it’s an SBR” and 4 being “You definitely have an SBR.”

    POINTS DON’T MEAN SHIT!

Everybody is talking about points, which doesn’t matter at all cause the ATF left a clause in there saying that they can just determine it a SBR if they think that’s what you were trying to do.

Hoo boy, I’ve seen bad math before but this is just straight up sad! Not even bothering to carry the one and add properly, just concatenating it.
