What does the California assault rifle ban overturn really mean??
-
What does it mean? Reading articles online doesn’t really tell me much. It would be nice to not have to buy CA compliant rifles and not carry 10 rounds mags…

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 12:11 amNothing yet. We still have to make it past the 30 day injunction. But it will definitely get contested. Ig everything works out say goodbye to fin-grips and maglocks.

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 12:11 amThe state has already filed a motion to appeal, and from what I understand this will need to go to the supreme court to really carry weight. But in theory it would remove the bogus restrictions on assault rifles in California, and potentially everywhere else: NY, NJ, MA, CT, etc.

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 12:11 amA federal judge called BS on all the AR15 style rifle restrictions. No more fins or short mags. You aren’t in the clear yet, but it’s going to take a big something to get around this. It will affect many gun laws in every state as far as restrictions go. It could really upend things in blue states especially.

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 12:11 amNothing for 30 days at least. Beyond that, depends on how the appeal process plays out.
Expect this to get pushed to SCOTUS. Will be interesting to watch.

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 12:11 amRealistically, nothing will happen for 4+ years for it to get appealed, potentially appealed to en banc review (or rather the 9th circuit’s weird fucking bastardization of an en banc review), and then the supreme court.
It’s virtually guaranteed to get overturned on the initial appeals, because 9th circuit.
In the meantime nothing will change.
And there’s a very unfortunate real chance that the supreme court will just refuse to hear it.
In the meantime, just don’t move to California…

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 12:11 amThe word, stigma, and lastly the use of the adjective “assault” needs to be removed from the lexicon when describing certain rifles.

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 12:11 amI remain hopeful for how this will turn out however, the judge really did himself no favor by quoting misinformation about the covid vaccines

GuestJune 13, 2021 at 12:11 amHopefully it will end up before scotus and get ruled as unconstitutional.
