Asking around the fishing sub-reddits so figured I’d ask here

What is exciting you today within the space? Could be some prepping you’re doing for the season or literally anything else. Or even, what got you in this in the first place?

I’m posting with a group on behalf of [r/hobbies]( We’re gathering what inspires people to get into a hobby and remain excited about it. If you’re interested in what we are building, you can check out the current spreadsheet pinned there.

If your recommendation contains some sort of media reference (video, images, links, social media account, site, etc), linking that is appreciated. You’ve probably seen a similar post this this on a few other sub-reddits. Genuinely, we are just trying to census the community and give them a platform to speak on what excites them so that we can build a pathway for others to get into the hobby as well.

Any and all feedback is appreciated 🙂

You’ll have a better luck in /r/fishing or better yet /r/fishingforbeginners. Clear the question with the mods first.

Within ice fishing or fishing itself I think a lot of people get into it because it can really be tailored to anyone’s desired experience. When I’m out bass fishing I’m making casts, got like 5 rods for different applications and I’m not really fishing in a slow paced sense.

However someone who wants fishing less for the mental challenge, and would instead want to unwind, can instead toss a worm on a bobber, or something on an ultralight rod and catch sunfish over and over, or just sit and wait with some buds for the big one to come.

For fishing to me it’s about getting out in nature, and doing my best to solve a problem with the tools I have available. Better yet the problem changes every day on every body of water.

    Hope that helps.
